Description
Marie Curie is looking for compassionate, everyday people to join our Companion Team within Northern Ireland
You don’t need a medical background or all the answers – just a kind heart, a listening ear, and a little time to give.
As a Companion Volunteer, you might visit someone in their home and share stories, connect through hobbies/interests, chat about life, update them regarding local or wider activities. Sometimes just a conversation with a cup of tea/coffee in hand provides a steady presence.
What you’ll do:
- Provide companionship and support
- Help someone express what matters most
- Share helpful information and point them to local resources
- Support families and carers, before and after bereavement
Why you’d be a great fit:
- You are patient, friendly, and a good listener
- You are non-judgmental and emotionally steady
- You can provide 3 of your time each week
- You are comfortable using email and happy to complete short visit reports
What you’ll gain:
- A deep sense of purpose and connection
- Ongoing support, training, and guidance
- A welcoming volunteer community
- Recognition for your time and dedication
- Reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses
Ready to get involved?
You’ll need to be 18 years or older and provide 2 non-family references in our online application form
Want to chat before applying? We’re happy to answer your questions with no pressure to commit.
