Job Title: Technical Support Engineer (Field & Office-Based)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Technical Support Engineer to join our Technical Team, providing high-quality support to our field team and international dealers. This role will be split between office-based duties (70%) and on-site visits (30%) to customer locations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electrical and hydraulic systems, with a problem-solving mindset and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to customers via phone, email, and in person.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on customer equipment.
- Liaise with internal teams to resolve complex technical problems quickly and effectively.
- Conduct on-site visits for service, commissioning, repairs, and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities and customer communications.
- Support in-house testing and inspection of equipment prior to dispatch.
- Assist with technical documentation, training materials, and product feedback loops.
- Plan detailed Methods of Works and Risk Assessments for installations and repair jobs.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- 5+ year’s experience in heavy equipment engineering role.
- Proven hands-on experience with both electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring schematics.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Full clean UK/Irish driving licence.
- Competent with MS Office and service reporting tools.
Desirable:
- Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a similar technical support or field service role.
- Experience in waste handling, compactors, balers, or related machinery.
- Knowledge of PLC systems and control panels.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent H&S certification
