Scope of Role

Avondale Foods is a leading food manufacturing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses including Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Dunnes, Morrisons, Aldi & Lidl throughout the UK & Ireland.

Our Technical Graduate will have a tailored development plan and the opportunity to work on diverse projects and collaborate across departments, guided by the highly accomplished Technical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects, fostering collaboration across various disciplines within the organization. Technical Managers will provide ongoing support and guidance throughout day-to-day activities.
  • Involvement in Quality Management Systems and related activities such as customer requests, audits and coordination with contractors and suppliers.
  • Engage with colleagues to evaluate options and respond to information requests or participate in meetings.
  • Provide support across other functions within the technical and quality team as needed, including covering duties during holiday periods or absences.
  • Conduct scheduled internal audits, including GMP, hygiene, fabrication, and system audits, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.
  • Maintain clear, accurate and professional communication with both management and customers, in written and verbal formats.
  • Travel to and participate in customer meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration do the right thing approach in all interactions.
  • Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times.

Person Specification

Essential

  • 3rd level qualification in a food related discipline
  • Previous experience in a technical quality role
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional attention to detail ensuring accuracy in documentation, compliance checks and issue resolution
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, taking ownership of tasks and managing workload effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to driving continuous improvement in quality and technical standards

Desirable

  • Level 2/3 HACCP
  • Experience in a food production or manufacturing environment
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration skills demonstrated through group projects
  • Ability tofollow detailed procedures and protocolsprecisely, especially in high-compliance environments (e.g., GMP, HACCP).
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools(e.g., Excel, Power BI) for trend analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • A positive attitude toward learning and continuous improvement, with a willingness to take on new challenges.
