We are now looking for a hands-onTechnical Assistant to join our close-knit team and support our quality and compliance functions.
Role Overview
This is a practical, varied role ideal for someone looking to gain extensive technical knowledge in a high-standards meat processing environment. The Technical Assistant will support the day-to-day food safety and quality assurance activities, help maintain compliance with BRCGS and regulatory standards, and ensure accurate documentation and traceability throughout operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the sites Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS).
- Carry out routine quality checks, including product, temperature, hygiene and traceability verifications.
- Help prepare for and support external audits (typically BRCGS and regulatory inspections).
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all technical activities.
- Collect product and environmental samples for testing (microbiological, shelf-life, water, etc.).
- Support in the investigation of customer complaints and non-conformances, including root cause analysis.
- Participate in internal audits (GMP, hygiene, traceability) and corrective action tracking.
- Assist with training staff on induction, hygiene, food safety practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and update product specifications and supplier approvals as needed.
- Work closely with management and production staff to promote a food safety and quality culture on site.
