Position: Solicitor/Consultant
Location: Belfast
Duration: Temporary role (6 months)
Pay Rate: Open to negotiation
Hours of work: 2-3 days a week to include a Tuesday and Thursday
Our client is a private company with extensive experience in the construction sector. They provide support services to a wide range of businesses and engage in joint venture partnerships on various building and construction projects.
As a fast-growing and progressive business, they are seeking to appoint an in-house Solicitor / Consultant to support the Chairman in managing joint ventures. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chairman and work closely with the legal department. This presents an excellent opportunity for a solicitor to apply their expertise in a commercial and legal environment
Duties will include:
- Handling litigation matters such as shareholder or board disputes
- Managing corporate and company secretarial duties
- Advising on business governance
- Assessing compliance requirements and providing legal advice
- Appointing and managing external lawyers, accountants, and consultants
- Drafting board minutes, legal documentation, and statutory filings
- Preparing legal correspondence related to litigation
- Assisting with court preparation and document review
- Highlighting outstanding legal actions for board directors
Essential Criteria:
- Solicitor with 10+ years PQE, preferably with a focus on litigation
- Experience in commercial law
- Knowledge of company secretarial and corporate legal functions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Self-motivated with commercial awareness
- IT literate
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience drafting and reviewing commercial contracts
- Understanding of company law and shareholder agreements
- Familiarity with minority shareholder rights
- Knowledge of land or property-related legal matters
- Experience reporting to senior management or boards
- Experience advising on corporate governance
