Job Summary

Shunter Driver Permanent Nightshift

As a Shunter Driver, youll play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly by manoeuvring trailers via a Terberg Electric Shunter. The role requires someone with the ability to engage with all stakeholders, to work calmly and safely under pressure to ensure the smooth running of shunting activity on night shift. Shift Pattern: 8 hours night shifts from 11pm to 7am. Starting on a Sunday evening at 11pm and finishing at 7am on a Friday morning. This is a 40hr contract at £15.04 per hour. Overtime rate £22.56. Shunting experience is essential

How will you contribute?

  • Carry out movements of the trailers in a safe and effective manner.
  • Carrying out yard checks and inspections and ensuring drivers follow safety protocols.
  • Supervision of all yard activities to ensure compliance with quality and health and safetystandards.
  • Maintaining a safe and organised work environment through Good Warehouse Practises.
  • Ensuring accuracy and efficiency by completing all communications with the Warehouse Teams, the Customer and 3rd Party Hauliers.
  • Upholding safety standards by adhering to all transport regulations, company policies and health and safety training.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by suggesting ways to optimise processes.
  • Delivering excellent customer service by being proactive and responsive to the customers needs.
  • Conducting thorough pre-op vehicle checks and reporting any defects.

What will you bring?

  • Shunting experience is essential.
  • Proven ability to safely manoeuvre vehicles in tight and busy spaces is crucial.
  • HGV Class 1 License is desirable, but a standard driving license and shunting experience is sufficient.
  • Champions and is proactive towards Health and Safety onsite.
  • Effective communication skills to work with the wider team and hauliers to ensure operational requirements are achieved.
  • Agile approach to changing customer requirements to meet customer / operational demands.
  • High level of self-awareness and takes accountability for own work.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Excellent team working skills along with the ability to work independently.
