Senior Producer – Educational Video Content
Makematic is seeking (up to) two Senior Producers based in Northern Ireland to lead the development and delivery of high-quality live-action and animated educational content as part of our new ClassSpark series. ClassSpark is a video-first professional learning series for teachers, focused on subject areas in
the humanities and, in particular, US and world history.
This role is integral to every phase of production—from ideation to scripting, directing, and final delivery. The ideal candidate is a seasoned producer with strong storytelling skills, editorial judgment, and a passion for history and education.
This is a hybrid role, with the flexibility to work remotely and from our office in Belfast as required. Regular travel is part of the role, primarily within the United States, with occasional trips to Europe. During peak production periods, travel is typically required every 4–6 weeks. While these roles are intended to
be full-time staff positions, consideration will be given to longer term or fixed term contracts.
Key Responsibilities
● Manage all stages of production from concept to final delivery across multiple formats.
● Collaborate with the Executive Producer, Series Producer, Production Operations team, and otherstakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
● Under the guidance of our Director of Education, write and develop scripts aligned with eachproject’s creative and instructional goals.
● Produce and direct live-action shoots, primarily in the U.S., with some potential shoots in the U.K.or Europe.
● Oversee budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure financial accountability.
● Coordinate teams and update schedules and project trackers accordingly
● Conduct and supervise archival and historical research to support narrative development.
● Craft compelling narratives using visual storytelling techniques and curated imagery/artifacts.
● Review and approve content during post-production to ensure quality, compliance with copyright and licensing agreements, and alignment with the creative brief.
● Maintain detailed production and post-production documentation and metadata.
● Foster strong working relationships with internal teams and external collaborators.
Essential Skills & Experience
● Proven experience in senior production roles, with a strong track record in live-action and/or
animation.
● Deep understanding of U.S. and world history content.
● Exceptional storytelling and narrative development skills.
● Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail.
● Superior written and verbal communication skills.
● Based in Northern Ireland, with the ability to work both remotely and in our Belfast office.
● Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of thriving under pressure.
Desirable Skills
● Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
● Live-action directing expertise.
● Academic or professional qualifications in media production, education, history, or related fields.
