One of Northern Ireland’s prominent M&E Contractors, with over 40 years of experience, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their commercial team in Belfast. Renowned for its excellence in MEP Services, the company consistently provides top-tier engineering solutions across various sectors, including Commercial, Energy, Education, Health, Hotel & Leisure, Residential, and Retail.
Your new role
As a valued member of the commercial team, this role involves preparing accurate and competitive tenders for high-value mechanical projects across a range of sectors. Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare detailed mechanical estimates
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
- Create comprehensive cost breakdowns including materials, labour, and plant
- Participate in bid reviews and client meetings
- Support project handovers to delivery teams
- Track tender progress and follow up for feedback
- Build relationships with customers to promote repeat business.
- Suggest value engineering options to improve cost efficiency
What you’ll need to succeed
- At least 5 years’ experience in mechanical estimating within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems
- Proficient in estimation software and MS Office
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously under tight deadlines
