Risk & Control Governance Analyst – Belfast
Morgan McKinley is recruting for a hybrid Project Manager / Business Analyst (PM/BA) position for a leading bank based in Belfast. The role is focused on improving and overseeing risk controls, governance, and process integrity related to a bank’s balance sheet operations, especially within Markets Operations (i.e., the back-office side of trading and investment banking).
Contract: Initial 6 months (potential for extension)
Day Rate: £600/umbrella, 6 month contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive project management and business analysis activities across Balance Sheet Risk & Control initiatives.
- Develop and manage project plans, track deliverables, and ensure project documentation is complete and audit-ready.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and Tech teams to build and embed robust control frameworks aligned with Balance Sheet Policy.
- Lead remediation and root cause analysis of aged exceptions, ensuring clear metrics and reporting.
- Own the tracking and analysis of key KPIs/KRIs related to balance sheet governance.
- Coordinate governance forums, working groups, and manage end-to-end meeting logistics including materials and minutes.
- Provide oversight and packaging of reporting material for senior management.
- Identify and escalate project risks and issues, while managing resolutions proactively.
✅ Key Skills & Experience:
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, or Control/Risk roles within the Investment Banking or Financial Services industry.
- Proven track record as a Project Manager or Business Analyst in high-impact control and governance environments.
- Strong understanding of Books & Records, Balance Sheet substantiation, and financial controls.
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and process mapping (e.g., Visio) skills.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Highly organised self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, regulated environments.
