Recycling Engagement Officer
Location: Duncrue Industrial Estate, Belfast
Salary: £13.91 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

Are you passionate about the environment and making Belfast a cleaner, greener city? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Recycling Engagement Officer to help households and businesses reduce waste, recycle more, and take part in sustainability initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Visit households and businesses across the city, providing face-to-face advice on recycling, re-use, and waste minimisation.
- Deliver leaflets and promote new recycling schemes through community engagement.
- Raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage participation in sustainability programmes.
- Drive a Council vehicle as required, ensuring it’s kept roadworthy and well-maintained.
- Respond to public enquiries with courtesy and professionalism, in line with Council standards.
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you can bring:
- A full driving licence valid in Northern Ireland (or access to suitable transport).
- At least 1 year’s experience in a public-facing role, e.g. customer service, community engagement, or outreach.
- Experience of promoting recycling, re-use, or sustainability initiatives.
- GCSEs (grades A-C) including English, or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in environmental issues.
