A well-established construction firm is seeking a skilled
Quantity Surveyor
to join its dynamic team. This role is central to the financial planning and cost control of construction projects, ensuring that budgets are effectively managed from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytically strong, and capable of delivering accurate financial oversight across a range of projects, with a particular emphasis on structural steel.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare precise cost estimates for construction projects, covering materials, labour, equipment, and overheads.
Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial plans and targets.
Conduct ongoing cost analysis and produce reports to highlight variances and suggest corrective actions.
Negotiate terms and pricing with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for all project-related transactions.
Prepare interim valuations and liaise with the accounts department to ensure timely invoicing.
Track retention schedules and monitor warranty expiration dates.
Record and evaluate contract variations, ensuring appropriate valuation and billing.
Qualifications & Skills:
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
Demonstrated experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a focus on structural steel projects.
Strong understanding of construction cost control principles and commercial project management.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial analysis.
Proficient in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Excellent communication skills for effective liaison with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Ability to manage workload independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
