Public Prosecutor – Belfast Chambers (Northern Ireland Civil Service)
Location: Belfast Chambers, Northern Ireland
Salary: £22.65 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm)
Contract Type: Temporary (Up to 12 months)
Start Date: June 2025

About the Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Public Prosecutor to join the Northern Ireland Civil Service based at Belfast Chambers. You will play a key role in preparing and prosecuting criminal cases, working closely with law enforcement and justice sector stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess prosecution files submitted by law enforcement and government agencies
- Provide pre-prosecution advice and direct appropriate charges
- Prepare case papers and manage evidence for prosecution
- Advocate in Magistrates Court, with occasional County Court appearances
- Collaborate with victims, witnesses, and justice system partners
- Assist in the preparation of committal papers for Indictable cases where required
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister entitled to practice in Northern Ireland
- At least one year’s post-qualification advocacy experience in criminal cases, gained within the last six years in a Magistrates Court environment
