Reporting Line Manager: The Project Manager will report to the Head of New Product Introduction.
Departmental Overview:
The New Product Introduction (NPI) department owns & maintains the overarching framework, processes and approach that all of ATL’s new products must be delivered to, to ensure ATL’s strategic projects are delivered in a consistent, accurate, and efficient manner.
Using this overarching framework & by applying best project management & leadership practices, the NPI department is responsible for leading the delivery of all products & strategic projects through the various phases & stages of the product/projects’ life within time, cost, scope & quality targets.
The NPI department operate across all stages of the product life and work with a wide variety of stakeholders accordingly – from early conceptual design through to procurement, manufacturing, and operation – as well as developing, implementing & managing supporting processes, governance & project structures.
The department sits within the Technical & Operational Delivery pillar of ATL’s eVessels organisation.
Role Overview:
The New Product Introduction team is expanding and therefore looking for an enthusiastic & motivated project professional to join its team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop skills & grow experience in a highly innovative & dynamic organisation embarking on a mission to decarbonise the maritime industry.
The Project Manager will be given responsibility over projects within a challenging, complex, and exciting EF24 Programme and work under the direction of the Head of New Product Introduction to ultimately ensure these elements are delivered according to the goals & constraints of the EF24 Programme. They will be entrusted to lead these projects in collaboration with the EF24 Chief Technical Project Engineer – proactively managing, problem solving, escalating issues, and identifying risks for their assigned projects.
The Project Manager will be responsible for stakeholder management for their projects & will be required to engage with external & internal stakeholders, including suppliers and sub-contractors. They will also assist the Head of New Product Introduction in overall programme governance as well as developing & maturing the suite of project & programme management related processes and tools.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, mature, & manage projects within the EF24 programme
- Lead & manage cross-functional projects and teams in dynamic environment
- Act as point of contact for both internal & external customers/stakeholders for projects under their responsibility
- Management of suppliers & sub-contractors
- Develop detailed plans & timelines for assigned projects and produce clear picture of how these fit in and impact the overall programme
- Track and monitor progress, identify & track potential risks & issues, and report deviations away from the plan
- Proactively problem solve & come up with mitigation strategies to risks or issues to prevent delays or issues to project delivery and/or ensure these are escalated as required
- Regularly report project status & progress to Head of NPI and other senior stakeholders to feed into overall NPI Master Programme & other forums
- Facilitate effective communication & collaboration across departments and functions
- Support & assist the Head of NPI with all aspects of project management
- Comply with ATL’s policies & procedures
- Demonstrate & maintain initiative, energy & a positive approach in a dynamic environment
Knowledge And Specialist Skills:
Education:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
Required Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project management/leadership role or equivalent, preferably in innovative engineering & manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in maritime, automotive, aerospace, de-carbonisation/zero-emissions sectors
- Project Management Qualification or Certification (e.g. APM PMQ, PRINCE2, or similar)

- Ability to track, monitor and clearly report project progress and status
- Knowledgeable of project management best practices/tools/methods

- Excellent computer skills including high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficient with MS Project for schedule management (or similar scheduling tools)
