Job Summary

A Production Operative (Buffing) in the Machine Shop are responsible for Buffing finished parts to a high cosmetic standard using handheld power tools. They are also responsible for providing specific tools to the required machines on the manufacturing lines to ensure production deadlines are met.

  • Shift rotation is applicable
  • Continental day shift (07:30-19:30) and Continental night shift (19:30-07:30)
  • Shift rota to be discussed at interview stage

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for buffing finished parts to a high cosmetic standard using handheld power tools
  • Responsible for returning tools to the appropriate location
  • Cleaning and inspecting tools
  • Responsible for all quality control on all outgoing tooling and parts
  • Responds quality alerts instantly
  • Report and manage damaged tooling
  • Follow all Health and Safety guidelines including the use of full PPE at all times
  • Continuous improvement of work area and outputs
  • Communicate well between machine operators and supervisors
  • Other ad- hoc production duties as required

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in a production environment
  • Experience in a high paced machine shop in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of or experience using Orbital Sanders and/or Hand Files
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • A keen eye to detail
  • Good knowledge of using measuring equipment i.e. Vernier’s
  • Knowledge of 5S
