Working hours are Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.
Please note, this is a 3 Month Fixed Term Contract.
Whilst this role is based in Belfast, you may be required to travel to our Environment Testing site in Cork.
As a Principal Microbiologist you will be responsible for conducting microbiological testing and analysis on a wide range of environmental samples. You will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards at all times.
- Perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing under standard methods compliant to ISO17025.
- Prepare and analyse samples to detect presence of microorganisms.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, incubators, and microscopes.
- Record and analyse data accurately and maintain detailed laboratory records and logs.
- Interpret results and report findings to supervisors or clients in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support method development, validation, and troubleshooting of microbiological techniques.
- Perform environmental monitoring and microbial limit testing, as required.
- Participate in internal and external audits and assist with corrective actions.
- Maintain sterile working conditions to avoid cross-contamination.Create a microbiology capability on time and on budget.
- To uphold and maintain company and customer confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain accurate and systematic records in accordance with documented procedures.
- Proactively investigate any faults or problems and if not resolved, report findings to Management without delay.
- Support the team leads with timely investigation of customer complaints, queries and other sources of non-conforming work.
- Ensure excellent standards of housekeeping and hygiene.
