About the Role
We’re working with a respected public sector organisation that plays a key role in shaping sustainable communities across Northern Ireland. They’re looking for a Planning Officer to join their Place Shaping Team, helping to deliver housing-led regeneration and make a real impact on where people live.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with colleagues across regeneration, housing and local councils. You’ll identify and assess sites, support planning applications, and contribute to the delivery of new homes and mixed-use developments. You’ll also provide planning advice, help produce housing need statements and investment plans, and play your part in improving neighbourhoods through well-planned development.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out land and site assessments, feasibility studies and planning appraisals.

Support housing-led regeneration and mixed-use development projects.

Identify potential development opportunities in areas of housing need.

Provide planning advice and input into housing and regeneration programmes.

Work with local councils, community groups and other partners to support effective, community-led regeneration.

Prepare reports, housing market analyses and investment plans.
Essential Criteria
To be considered, you’ll need to demonstrate:

An RTPI-accredited (or equivalent) qualification in planning (e.g. IPI or RICS – Planning & Development).

At least one year’s experience in a planning environment.

Relevant experience in two or more of the following:

Community-led regeneration
-
Site identification and assessment
-
Land asset management
-
Use of GIS for planning projects
-

A full UK driving licence or access to transport that allows you to meet the requirements of the role.
Desirable
-
Membership, or working towards membership, of RTPI, IPI or RICS (Planning & Development).
