Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to lead the development and coordination of project schedules across major electrical and construction projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-value industrial and data centre developments, ensuring project timelines are met with precision, efficiency, and compliance. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage detailed programmes for large-scale electrical and construction projects using Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
  • Interpret project scope, contracts, and engineering inputs to build phased, realistic timelines.
  • Collaborate with design, procurement, and site teams to ensure accurate, integrated planning.
  • Identify critical path activities, assess programme risks, and implement recovery strategies.
  • Monitor progress and update programmes to reflect changes in design, scope, or site conditions.
  • Produce schedule reports: Milestone tracking, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with resource planning, aligning workforce and productivity with project goals.
  • Provide planning mentorship and promote best practices across the project team.
  • Ensure alignment with client deadlines, contract milestones, and quality standards.
  • Support change control with programme impact assessments and recommendations.
  • Contribute to risk reviews with time-based insights to prevent project delays.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in project planning within sectors such as electrical engineering, construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, or mission-critical industries.
  • Proficient in leading project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar project control software.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning principles, critical path method (CPM) scheduling, and project controls methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple complex projects, manage shifting priorities, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management, team collaboration, and problem-solving capabilities across multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable:

  • A Master’s degree (MSc) in Project Management or Construction Planning is advantageous but not essential.
  • Professional Certification is desirable e.g. PRINCE2, APM PMQ.
  • Membership of Professional Body. e.g. Full or Associate Membership with APM. Chartered status (ChPP)
