Painter – £15.33 per hour
Job Purpose:
To carry out a full range of painting and decorating work across council properties—working independently or as part of a team.
Key Duties:

Prepare and paint surfaces, apply finishes, and hang wallcoverings.

Erect and dismantle scaffolding and equipment safely.

Use and maintain all tools and materials properly.

✅ Follow all health and safety regulations and council policies.

Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks.

Identify, order, and collect materials as needed.
-
Accurately complete paperwork and time records.
-
Drive council vehicles to transport tools and materials.
-
Assist in training new staff, apprentices, and contractors.

Supervise staff if required and deliver high service standards.

Attend training and follow council HR procedures.
Workforce Terms:

Uniform/PPE required.

Use of swipe card and bonus schemes.

Must work flexible hours and may need to use own vehicle.

Paid fortnightly via BACS.
Essential Criteria:
✅ NVQ Level II in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent).
✅ Full, current driving licence or access to transport*.
✅ At least 1 year’s experience in:

Surface preparation.

Erecting/dismantling equipment safely.
-
Painting and decorating in building maintenance.
