Job Title: Nursery Assistant

Location: Scribbles Day Nursery, Taughmonagh
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Reports To: Scribbles Day Nursery Manager

Role Summary

We are looking for a dedicated Nursery Assistant to join our team at Scribbles Day Nursery. In this role, you will support the Unit Head in the daily operation of the nursery, fostering a positive environment that promotes the wellbeing and development of children. This position requires a commitment to complete a Level 3 Transition Play Work course.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for children in the unit.
• Support the Unit Head in planning and delivering play activities and programs.
• Build secure and nurturing relationships to encourage childrens social, emotional, and creative growth.
• Attend to children’s physical care and personal hygiene needs.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families at all times.
• Participate in training, meetings, and supervisory sessions as required.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and maintain a hygienic and safe environment.
• Report any accidents or incidents involving children to the Day Nursery Manager immediately.
• Prepare, maintain, and tidy rooms, materials, and equipment as needed.
• Actively participate in the nurserys Key Worker system and relevant observations.
• Adhere to Scribbles Day Nurserys policies, procedures, and all relevant legislation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Nursery Manager.

Essential Criteria

• Qualifications/Experience:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Childcare and Education.
  • Experience working with children aged 0-4 years.

• Knowledge:

  • Understanding of childrens development and needs (physical, social, educational, and emotional).
  • Awareness of childrens rights.

• Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication with children and parents/carers.

• Personal Attributes:

  • Genuine interest and motivation to work with children.

• Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including unsocial hours when necessary.
