Job Title: Nursery Assistant
Location: Scribbles Day Nursery, Taughmonagh
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Reports To: Scribbles Day Nursery Manager

Role Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Nursery Assistant to join our team at Scribbles Day Nursery. In this role, you will support the Unit Head in the daily operation of the nursery, fostering a positive environment that promotes the wellbeing and development of children. This position requires a commitment to complete a Level 3 Transition Play Work course.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for children in the unit.
- Support the Unit Head in planning and delivering play activities and programs.
- Build secure and nurturing relationships to encourage childrens social, emotional, and creative growth.
- Attend to children’s physical care and personal hygiene needs.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families at all times.
- Participate in training, meetings, and supervisory sessions as required.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and maintain a hygienic and safe environment.
- Report any accidents or incidents involving children to the Day Nursery Manager immediately.
- Prepare, maintain, and tidy rooms, materials, and equipment as needed.
- Actively participate in the nurserys Key Worker system and relevant observations.
- Adhere to Scribbles Day Nurserys policies, procedures, and all relevant legislation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Nursery Manager.
Essential Criteria

Qualifications/Experience:
- NVQ Level 2 in Childcare and Education.
- Experience working with children aged 0-4 years.

Knowledge:
- Understanding of childrens development and needs (physical, social, educational, and emotional).
- Awareness of childrens rights.

Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication with children and parents/carers.

Personal Attributes:
- Genuine interest and motivation to work with children.

Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including unsocial hours when necessary.
