Role: NPD Technologist

Location: Northern Ireland

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am–5pm (flexibility required)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an NPD Technologist to join a leading food manufacturing business specialising in sauces. This role sits within a growing R&D team and plays a key part in driving innovation, delivering new product concepts, and supporting sustainable business growth.

The Role

As an NPD Technologist, you will support the development of new and existing products from concept through to launch. Working closely with the R&D Manager and cross-functional teams, you will help deliver cost-effective, high-quality products that meet customer and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and trial new product concepts in line with briefs
• Prepare kitchen samples, recipes, costings, and supporting documentation
• Plan and manage factory trials, ensuring smooth handover to production
• Source new ingredients and support supplier development
• Maintain accurate records and update internal NPD systems
• Benchmark competitor products and organise tasting sessions
• Prepare customer specifications and technical documentation
• Support cost-reduction and product improvement projects
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene, and H&S standards
• Work collaboratively with internal teams across production, procurement, and technical departments

About You

• Degree/HND in Food Science or related discipline (desirable)
• Previous NPD experience advantageous
• Good understanding of food processing principles
• Knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards, and microbiology
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Highly innovative, with excellent problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
• IT-literate and comfortable maintaining detailed records
