We are currently leading the charge in transforming the food packaging industry with our pioneering home-compostable molded fiber lids as part of our ambitious expansion to tackle the global challenge of single-use plastic.
Your Opportunity
Were currently looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our Smooth Molded Fiber Team working in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Dollingstown, leading the global shift towards eco-friendly solutions.
In this position, you will report to the Maintenance Engineer and will assume responsibility for maintenance activities in the SMF Lids Factory.
Where youll be
You will be located at our site in Dollingstown, Lurgan which is approximately 30 minutes travelling time from Belfast.
What youll be doing
Key responsibilities will be wide ranging and will include with the following:
- Assume responsibility for all maintenance activities in the lids factory, to ensure plant equipment is maintained to a satisfactory standard and ensure KPI targets are met
- Carrying out daily assessment of machine(s) to assess what work has to be done and prioritise urgent jobs to ensure maximum output from machines
- Carrying out fault diagnosis of electronic, mechanical, pneumatic & PLC control systems to resolve breakdowns and prevent future occurrences
- Carrying out the maintenance & repair work on existing machinery and tooling packages on a daily basis, including PM, PdM (predictive maintenance tasks), breakdowns etc to improve process reliability and efficiency, minimize downtime and ensure optimum efficiency of plant machinery
- Major overhaul of machinery to carry out major maintenance work to prevent reoccurring problems which can result in poor quality production
- Installation of new machinery to improve process reliability and efficiency as well as cater for increased production demands.
- Assisting in maintain KPIs for plant to monitor and improve KPIs for area and ensure machines are performing to their maximum capacity
- Developing SOPs in line with maintenance and training development to build plant knowledge base and improve skill levels across the maintenance department and ensure consistency in all tasks carried out
- Delivering training to stakeholders to increase skill levels of maintenance personnel and ensure all maintenance personnel have the correct skills and knowledge to do their job and improve reliability of machines
- Carrying out project work as and when required to identify and carry out improvements in key maintenance areas
- Supporting Mechanical Operators on an ongoing basis to utilize personnel to the best of their skill level on maintenance jobs and ensure all procedures are adhered
- Delivering sufficient handovers to ensure reliability and performance of the plants machinery in line with agreed service levels
- Providing adequate cover for the Maintenance Personnel and Mechanical Operators as and when required
- Complying with H&S procedures within the factory
- Any other duties as and when required
What youll bring to the role
- A level III qualification in mechanical / electrical engineering or a level II qualification combined with the ability to demonstrate relevant experience gained in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Previous mechanical and electrical experience gained within a high-volume manufacturing environment
- A working knowledge and experience in pneumatics, inverters and basic PLCs
- Strong experience of mechanical fault finding within a manufacturing environment
Whilst not essential it would be advantageous to your application if you could also bring:-
- A Mechatronic Level III Qualification
In addition, the ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who can work well as part of a continually developing team and demonstrate a multi skilled and tenacious approach to problem solving. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will also be required to facilitate interaction with colleagues at all levels throughout the Company.
