We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Bookkeeper to join a well-established law firm based in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with legal sector experience to step into a key role that directly supports the smooth financial operation of a busy practice.

The Role

Youll be responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping duties in line with Solicitors Accounts Rules, ensuring the firms financial records are accurate, compliant, and up to date. Your role will span client account management, reconciliations, VAT returns, and liaising with fee earners and external accountants.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of all client and office transactions

• Process client receipts, payments, and bank reconciliations

• Ensure compliance with Law Society regulations

• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, including VAT returns

• Support the year-end audit and liaise with external accountants

• Monitor aged debtors and support credit control functions

• Collaborate with legal teams to resolve financial queries

What Were Looking For

• Previous experience as a bookkeeper within a legal or professional services environment

• Strong working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (NI)

• Proficiency with legal accounting software (e.g., LEAP, Practice Evolve, or similar)

• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to compliance

• Strong organisational skills and a high level of confidentiality
