JOB TITLE: ICT Technician 1
REPORTS TO: School Principal through designated line manager
JOB PURPOSE
To assist the line manager in the development of ICT within the School and ensure that all computer systems and peripheral devices are maintained in good working order to meet the needs of the school.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the designated line manager the post holder will be responsible for the following in accordance with appropriate regulations:
Provision and Maintenance of ICT Facilities and Practical Resources
- Ensure that the school owned microcomputer systems and peripheral devices are maintained in good working order.
- Co-ordinate repair of all ICT related equipment.
- Liaise with authorised repair agencies as necessary.
- Assist in the installation of ICT related hardware and ensuring its successful operation.
- Perform routine software operations as required.
- Make back-up copies of software for security purposes as required.
- Assist with the installation of software on any school managed network.
- Assist with the installation of software on stand-alone systems.
- Make minor alterations, where appropriate and copyright permitting, to software as directed.
- Liaise with the managed service provider as required to support the maintenance of the Classroom 2000 system.
Administration
- Operate manual and/or computerised information systems in relation to administrative tasks associated with the area of work.
- Maintain an inventory/records of departmental resources.
- Assist in the ordering/purchasing, receiving, checking, storing and distribution of resources.
Other Duties
- Such other duties as may be assigned within the level of the post.
