Scope of Role

Avondale Foods is a leading food processing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesse in the UK.

Hygiene Team Equipment Technicians are to safely, effectively and in a timely manner carry out a range of in-depth dismantling, re-assembly and testing of production equipment in accordance with the cleaning schedule, CICs and as directed by the hygiene manager to aid the production of safe food.

Key Responsibilities

  • To carry out the equipment dismantling and reassembly tasks to deadlines in accordance with the cleaning schedule, CICs and as directed by the hygiene manager;
  • To ensure all equipment is working before passing it back to production;
  • Ensure that the work records issued by the hygiene manager are completed fully, signed and handed back at the end of each day;
  • To work in a safe responsible manner that protects yourself and your colleagues;
  • To advise the hygiene manager or hygiene supervisors of any defects with production equipment in any department;
  • To complete all necessary training for the role;
  • To ensure that factory property is undamaged by dismantling and reassembly tasks or operative behaviour;
  • Correctly wear the mandatory PPE for working in each of the areas and the tasks you are completing;
  • Ensure that all work tools and equipment are used in line with your training and that all tools are kept operational and stored and maintained in a hygienic state.
  • Ensure that you have left your area in a clean and tidy state and no hand tools or equipment is left on the floor in any department;
  • Maintain high levels of co-operation and teamwork amongst the rest of the hygiene team and other members of staff;
  • To communicate reasonably and productively to colleagues and management;
  • To complete a reasonable amount of overtime as dictated by business or departmental needs audits, holiday cover etc;
  • To adhere to the companys general policies, i.e., Food Safety, Health Safety, Absence, etc.
  • To complete cleaning duties where appropriate and dictated by the hygiene manager;
  • To decant and move chemicals according to schedule;
  • Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration do the right thing approach in all interactions.
  • Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times.
  • To undertake any other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the hygiene manager.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Will be able to demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Experience of working within the food manufacturing industry
  • Exceptional leadership, time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to engage at all levels

Desirable

  • Mechanical / electrical qualifications
  • Food safety and/or health and safety related qualification
  • A degree of flexibility is required to accommodate audits / sickness cover / holiday cover
  • Experience working in a maintenance role
