Job Summary

We are pleased to be working with this established public-sector organisation in their search for a HR Assistant.

This role supports effective HR operations by coordinating recruitment, managing HR administration, supporting absence and employee relations processes, and ensuring accurate reporting and policy compliance.

The role:

  • HR Administration: Support all core HR processes including recruitment, contracts, absence, employee relations, and training.
  • Recruitment: Manage recruitment from job ad to contract, ensuring compliance and coordination with agencies.
  • Absence Management: Track and report absence data, arrange Occupational Health, and support wellbeing initiatives.
  • Employee Relations: Provide admin support for ER cases and tribunals, liaising with legal and insurance teams.
  • Learning & Development: Coordinate training, induction, probation, placements, and career events.
  • Reporting & Systems: Maintain HR systems, produce reports, respond to FOIs, and support audits.
  • Compliance & Improvement: Ensure policy compliance, support service planning, and identify process improvements.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs to include English Language and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent qualifications
  • Demonstrate administrative experience in a busy HR environment to include:
  • Ability to deal efficiently with large volumes of work.
  • Producing reports and management information using a HR Management Information System.
  • Applying HR procedures and processes to include recruitment and selection, training and development and absence management.
  • Successfully working within a customer-facing environment providing high level service to stakeholders.
