Calor has an exciting opportunity for a Hybrid Bulk Driver / Tank Loader to join our Bulk Operations team in Belfast.
This permanent, full-time position combines driving (around 60%) with loading and yard operations (around 40%), supporting our safe and efficient fuel delivery service.
You’ll primarily work afternoon shifts, focusing on meter estate deliveries, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. The role operates on a rotational shift pattern covering early, day, and afternoon shifts — working any 5 days over 7, including weekends.
Driving & Delivery (Approx. 60%)
- Deliver LPG to domestic, industrial, and commercial customers.
- Carry out meter estate deliveries primarily in the afternoon.
- Complete pre- and post-shift vehicle safety checks.
- Drive safely and efficiently, following the Highway Code and Calor’s transport procedures.
- Record delivery details accurately using on-board technology.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and refuel as required.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or vehicle defects immediately.
- Assist in training new drivers when required.
- Ensure compliance with tachograph, working time directive, and H&S regulations.
Loading & Yard Operations (Approx. 40%)
- Refuel and load bulk road tankers in line with Calor’s loading and HSE procedures.
- Offload LPG safely in the event of overfill situations.
- Complete vehicle weight checks and maintain accurate loading documentation.
- Ensure pumps and valves are secured before leaving the yard.
- Report alarms, defects, and incidents in line with site emergency plans and SOPs.
- Support emergency response activities where necessary.
- Undertake ongoing training and upskilling in processes, equipment, and safety systems.
- Assist with yard or depot support tasks as needed.
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ HGV driving experience.
- Full, clean HGV driving licence (rigid or articulated as appropriate).
- Valid ADR Certificate in Bulk Gases (Packages and Tanks).
- Current Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Experience with multi-drop and single-drop deliveries.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and tachograph regulations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Basic mechanical understanding (advantageous).
- Good geographical knowledge of Northern Ireland
- Safety-conscious, reliable, and self-motivated.
- Flexible, with a “right first time” attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Customer-focused, representing Calor positively with customers and colleagues.
- Adaptable to rotational shifts and operational demands.
- Clear and confident in communication.
Desirable:
- Safe Pass, Forklift licence, or COMAH site experience.
- Experience in fuel, LPG, or chemical handling environments.
- Familiarity with digital logistics systems
