TheRole:
Our manufacturing site in Ballyrashane has an excellent 12-month placement opportunity for an ambitious student hoping to build experience within Health & Safety. The successful applicant will support our H&S Business Partner in promoting a zero-harm culture throughout our organization, looking after the safety of ourselves and others. This role will be instrumental to the development of our safety culture and safety management programme, promoting the adoption of best practice in all aspects of health and safety.
Key responsibilities will include (not limited too):
- Contribute to achieving a safe workplace environment without risk to health and the promotion of zero harm.
- Promote adherence to and communication of all Group Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Assist in the undertaking of safety inspections & audits, identifying safety hazards and opportunities for safety improvement.
- Monitoring levels of site first aid resources and ordering new stock as required.
- Ensuring that appropriate PPE is ordered, issued and controlled in line with site needs.
- Developing and using safety management system software to collect safety-related data and produce required reports.
- Create and distribute Safety Alerts in response to accidents on site to ensure key learnings to avoid recurrence are communicated.
- Create and distribute Toolbox Talks to proactively communicate key site health & safety information.
The Person
Our team are seeking a student from a relevant 3rd level subject area (e.g. Environmental Health, Engineering, etc.) who is seeking a year out in industry following completion of their 2nd year of study. The successful applicant will have excellent organisational and communication skills both verbal and written, be proficient with Microsoft Office packages and possess a form of previous working experience.
Knowledge of Health and Safety principles would be advantageous.
