About the Role
To post holder will be responsible for supporting the Health & Safety Manager in the provision of a professional advisory service on all aspects of health, safety and fire through expert advice and guidance and actively promote health, safety and fire and its effective management throughout the organisation and to embed a culture of health, safety and fire compliance.
The post holder will work closely with and foster good working relationships with other senior colleagues, line managers, staff organisations and other stakeholders.
Essential Criteria
A degree or recognised professional Occupational Health and Safety qualification or equivalent/higher qualification AND 2 years’ experience in a middle management role* as a health, safety and fire advisor
OR
HNC/HND or equivalent/higher qualification in Occupational Health and Safety AND 3 years’ experience in a middle management* role as a health, safety and fire advisor
*middle management role is defined as experience gained at Band 5 and above or equivalent
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPointExperience of designing and delivering training programmes within the last three yearsExperience of developing reports and policies/guidanceHold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.Excellent planning and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise workloadExcellent communication skills (both verbal and written and presentation skills) to meet the needs of the post in fullAbility to communicate at all levelsAbility to influence and manage change in practice effectivelyAbility to establish and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of staffAbility to identify solutions to problems and implement them effectivelyAbility to work to tight timescales whilst meeting targetsKnowledge of current health, safety and fire legislation and best practice
Desirable Criteria
Membership of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)Experience of dealing with health, safety and fire issues in a health and social care environment
Hours of work:
- 37.50hrs per week

- Rate of Pay: £19.10 per hour
