We are retained to recruit for this exciting opportunity that has arisen to join an industry leader in UK’s Building Services sector. Our client designs, develops and delivers a wide range of innovative and sustainable building services solutions throughout the UK & Europe

Our client industry leader within the UK Building Sector with a turnover already in excess of £60M and are on a growth trajectory as they continue to expand in new markets. Key to their growth is repeat business from an established client base built up over the years through their ongoing commitments to them in operating and maintaining the systems they have installed on their behalf.

Role:

They are currently looking to integrate a Head of Commissioning & Aftercare to continue growing and supporting their growing department. This post is a permanent contract and offers an amazing opportunity for a forward thinking candidate who is keen for career progression.

Job Description

You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless transition of projects from installation to handover via their in house commissioning team, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, and managing the ongoing aftercare service. This role is critical in delivering outstanding post-installation support, troubleshooting issues, and optimising long-term system performance.

Key Responsibilities

Project Completion

  • Oversee the final stages of project delivery through the commissioning and handover stages, ensuring all installations meet industry and company standards before handover.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance checks and commissioning of heat pump and decarbonisation systems.
  • Liaise with project managers, commissioning managers, engineers, and site teams to resolve any outstanding issues before completion.
  • Ensure all documentation, including compliance certificates, warranties, and user manuals, are provided to the customer.
  • Develop and maintain standardised project completion procedures and quality control measures.

Aftercare & Customer Support

  • Lead and develop the aftercare team to provide excellent customer service and technical support.
  • Engage closely with internal and external stakeholders on all projects, to ensure any issues are addressed through the appropriate teams in a timely manner
  • Manage a structured aftercare programme, including routine maintenance schedules, performance monitoring, and remote diagnostics.
  • Handle customer queries, complaints, and technical support requests efficiently, ensuring quick resolutions.
  • Work closely with manufacturers and suppliers to facilitate warranty claims and replacement parts.
  • Implement a feedback system to capture customer insights and continuously improve service delivery.

Service & Maintenance

  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective service.
  • Manage service contracts and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop predictive maintenance strategies to prevent system failures and enhance efficiency.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, train, and mentor aftercare and commissioning engineers & managers to uphold high service standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Ensure the team remains up to date with industry regulations, new technologies, and best practices.

Reporting & Performance Analysis

  • Set out & Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for project completion and aftercare efficiency.
  • Prepare reports for senior management on service performance, customer feedback, and system reliability.
  • Identify trends and areas for improvement in project delivery and customer service.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in project completion, aftercare, or technical service management within the renewable energy or HVAC sector.
  • Strong understanding of heat pump technology, building decarbonisation, and energy efficiency solutions.
  • · Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, including MCS, RECC, and building regulations.
  • Proficiency in CRM and service management software.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., FGAS, Heat Pump Installer Certification, Electrical Inspection & Testing).
  • Health & Safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are desirable.
