JOB PURPOSE:
To perform all duties of a Machine Operator encompassing make ready and effective running of the gluing machines to optimum potential, ensuring quality standards are stringently adhered to and a quality product is sent to customer in full on time working safely and in compliance with established safe systems of working at all times. Leading a small crew of people and delegating work effectively and managing resources to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health and safety
- To work and encourage others to work in a safe manner adhering to laid down health and safety procedures.
- To report all accidents, dangerous occurrences, and non-conformances to management
Maintenance
- To maintain all machinery and equipment in line with established planned maintenance programmes
- To keep work area clean tidy ensuring that the highest standards of housekeeping are always maintained.
- To proactively work in partnership with the engineering department to log faults or asset care issues concerning the machines working together to improve the flow of communication regarding faults to increase the performance of all machines.
- To participate in faultfinding and correcting any malfunctions on the machine
- General Housekeeping of machine and surrounding areas
Production
- To make ready and run machines to optimum potential, ensuring quality standards are adhered to
- To comply with current systems of working including established shift patterns.
- To achieve daily/weekly production targets
- To achieve established quality standards working within the guidelines outlined in the established quality systems complying with ISO9001 Pharmaceutical code of Practice, PS 9000 quality standards and BRC packaging materials revision 6.
- Maximising machine efficiency.
- To achieve established Health , Safety and Environmental standards ISO 45001, ISO 14001.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in production.
- To provide cover as required for process operatives
- Log and record duties performed in SFDC
- Participation in improvement projects
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of set up/run and maintain gluing machines (at least 1 year) ideally Jagenburg, Alpina and Domino
- Ability to take responsibility for output and quality of cartons produced
