Hatched Recruitment is proud to be supporting a public sector organisation in the search for dedicated General Operatives to work across multiple locations in Belfast. This hands-on role involves essential outdoor work, from street cleansing and waste collection to gardening and grounds maintenance – all contributing to cleaner, greener, safer public spaces.
What You’ll Be Doing
Environmental Cleansing & Refuse Handling
- Collect and transport waste responsibly, checking for contamination and following disposal procedures.
- Carry out street and area cleansing, bin washing, and general waste management duties.
- Operate cleaning tools and equipment safely, reporting any defects or issues.
Grounds & Green Space Maintenance
- Plant, prune, mow and maintain grassed areas, hedges, and flower beds in public spaces.
- Use appropriate horticultural tools and carry out basic pest control.
- Support the maintenance of recreational and sports facilities to ensure safe use by the public.
General Support & Site Duties
- Carry out minor upkeep and maintenance of public facilities, buildings and open spaces.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors using radios or mobile devices.
- Follow all health, safety and reporting procedures while on duty.
What You’ll Need
To be considered, candidates must have a minimum of 6 months’ experience in the following areas:
- Outdoor cleaning, grass cutting, hedge trimming, and planting.
- Working with members of the public in a helpful and professional manner.
- Operating machinery or tools safely and following PPE and manual handling protocols.
