Main purpose of job:
To secure income for the ongoing work of Autism NI and for new projects instigated by Autism NI through the organisation and management of fundraising events and campaigns and to contribute to other aspects of the fundraising work of Autism NI as required.
Fundraising and Events Officer
Reporting to:Head of Fundraising and Communications
Base:Autism NI, Unit 3, Forestgrove Business Park, Newtownbreda Road, Belfast, BT8 6AW
Hours:Full-time: 37.5 per week
Salary:£31,537 – £33,699
1. Specific Responsibilities
To achieve monetary targets, timetables and other output targets (e.g. numbers and type of events).
To manage a calendar of schools fundraising activities.
To attend briefings and meetings relevant to the area of fundraising events and to generally stay abreast of new and ongoing event opportunities.
To plan, document, organise and agree an annual programme of events including Autism NIs annual signature events, and a range of other medium sized and small events this to include fundraising targets and budgets.
To plan fundraising events and activities with community groups across Northern Ireland.
To negotiate sponsorship, gifts in kind and other support for events as required.
To encourage the participation of Autism NI support group members in events.
To maximise income from other events organised by external parties e.g. Belfast Marathon, other sporting events, conferences, etc.
To assist in the recruitment, training and management of fundraising event volunteers.
To co-ordinate the production and use of all necessary event related resources e.g. Just Giving, event posters and leaflets, press releases and PR campaigns.
To create communication plans for fundraising events to ensure that recruitment and monetary targets are met.
To coordinate the profile of the organisation on social media and online.
To keep detailed records of progress on all events to aid future planning e.g. how events were organised, sponsors, pitfalls, costs and income, etc.
To contribute to other aspects of the fundraising work of Autism NI as required (e.g. collections, speaking engagements, trading activities, etc).
2. Confidentiality
Maintain confidentiality for all areas of Autism NI, its staff and its work. The nature of the work within the charity entrusts people with confidential information about autistic people, their families, carers and staff. Any breach of confidentiality will constitute gross misconduct.
3. General Responsibilities
Co-operate with all Autism NI staff in maintaining good relationships with outside agencies and the general public to uphold the charitys image and win increased support for its work.
Promote a positive image of autism and Autism NI.
Ensure that conduct within and outside work does not conflict with professional expectations of Autism NI.
Actively support, promote and ensure awareness and observation of Autism NI policies including Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Fire, Health & Safety and Child/Vulnerable Adult Protection.
Co-operate with all Autism NI staff in maintaining harmonious inter-personal relations.
Attend staff meetings and training as required.
Ensure the respect, dignity and rights of privacy of service users/clients as far as possible.
Participate in regular Support and Development sessions with the Head of Fundraising and Communications.
Carry out any other duties as are within scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by the Chief Executive.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATION

Essential skills, qualifications and experience:
Degree level education or higher in a relevant discipline i.e., Business Studies, Marketing, Communication Studies or Events Management
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, email and social media
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good organisational skills
Self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative
Access to personal transport and full driving licence
Desirable qualifications and experience:
Chartered Institute of Marketing or Institute of Fundraising professional qualification or equivalent
Experience of working across several fundraising disciplines
Experience of event management
Experience of successfully working to monetary targets
Personal qualities:
Confidence in forging relationships and building strategic partnerships
Organised, planned approach with flexibility to respond to new opportunities and changing priorities
A goal oriented and enthusiastic attitude
Excellent communication skills
Working conditions of this post are indicated below:
Travel
Will be required to travel within Northern Ireland to attend cheque presentations, events, meetings, training, conferences, etc.
Anti-social hours
Occasionally may be required to work outside usual working hours. There is a Time Off in Lieu policy and procedure.
