The Role
As a Formulation Scientist, you will play a key role in developing, testing, and optimising cosmetic formulations from concept through to commercialisation. You will work closely with the wider technical, regulatory, and marketing teams to ensure that products are safe, stable, effective, and compliant with UK and EU cosmetic regulations.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise formulations for cosmetics and personal care products (e.g. skincare, haircare, bodycare).
- Conduct laboratory trials, stability testing, and product performance evaluations.
- Support scale-up and transfer from lab to production.
- Ensure formulations meet safety, stability, and regulatory requirements.
- Keep up to date with ingredient innovations, market trends, and new technologies.
- Maintain accurate records of all formulations, processes, and test results.
- Liaise with suppliers to source new raw materials and evaluate suitability.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or related field.
- Understanding of formulation principles and laboratory techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of UK/EU cosmetic regulations and product safety requirements.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Desirable (but not required):
- Experience in developing cosmetic or personal care formulations.
- Familiarity with stability and compatibility testing.
- Knowledge of ingredients used in skincare, haircare, or bath & body products.
