Job Summary

Job Title: Estimator (Civils)

We are hiring for our client, a well-established and respected organisation in the construction industry, who is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing team. Reporting to the Head of Estimating, you will work across various exciting projects in sectors including wind farms, roads, frameworks (including rail), and NIE/ESB works. The Role:

  • Research materials, equipment, and labour costs, and review potential value engineering options.
  • Prepare sub-contractor/supplier packages and send them out to the market.
  • Collect quotes from material suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Analyse sub-contractor/supplier quotations for competitiveness and compliance.
  • Assist with job planning, including timescales, programme preparation, and risk assessment.
  • Assess individual rates and prices and amend/create new estimates from material and subcontract quotes.
  • Attend relevant meetings and site visits as required.
  • Finalise and present tenders to management in accordance with project deadlines.

The Person:

  • A relevant Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • 4 years’ post-graduate experience in a similar or main contracting role.
  • Background in Quantity Surveying/Engineering is advantageous.
  • Experience in pricing civil works (roads, rail, concrete works, and site works).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong IT skills (estimating software, AutoCAD, QS take-off packages, and Microsoft Project).
  • Must have the right to work in the UK and hold a valid driving licence.
