Job Summary

The primary functions of the Environmental Health and Safety Officer is to develop, monitor and implement the organisations health and safety policy; to ensure the organization is compliant with health and safety legislation; and to reduce and prevent hazards, dangers and accidents. This role not only ensures the health and safety of the workers but also of the workplace, environment and general public. They should encourage highly positive Environmental Health and Safety Culture. Please be advised job description is non exhaustive and employees may be transferred to other area of the business when necessary. Main Tasks & Responsibilities Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are in place, communicated and enforced, andsystems and procedures required daily, weekly, monthly and annual are correctly implemented in time. Ensures the company is compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements Liaise with HSE and other Enforcing Authorities on behalf of the company when required to do so Carry out workplace inspection audits. Conduct fire drills to ensure all employees understand what to do in case of emergency and to ensure that the equipment is working sufficiently Conduct investigations into accidents, emergencies and near misses to determine causes and preventative measures Provide information, advice and support to the management team on all aspects of Health and safety across the site Conducts training with employees to ensure that they are aware of the regulations and procedures and provide guidance and ensures training is up to date. Compile, analyze and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents Chair Health and Safety Committee meetings; coordinate meetings, agendas, minutes and follow-up on action plans. Maintain the ISO System at the designated site. Ensure First Aid and Emergency Response team are adequately in place and trained. Desired Education & Background Certificate inNeboshor equivalent, diploma would be advantageous. Must possess GCSE in English & Maths or equivalent Previous Health & Safety Experience Computer Literate High Level of initiative and proven experience of working independently.
