The Role:
The Distribution Manager will deliver service excellence through an efficient and cost-effective distribution department. The Distribution Manager will ensure that customer service meets agreed plans and remain complaint with legal and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
To oversee distribution department and to ensure that distribution systems are being used
To effectively manage and review delivery routes and drivers within the department
Responsible for P&L and managing the costs within the department including personnel, vehicle rental, third party, fuel and other costs
Responsible for keeping up to date on all legal compliance regarding personnel and fleet (CPC, Tachographs, Personal Protective Equipment, Uniforms)
To ensure that the fleet satisfies the requirements for maintenance, vehicle inspection, order, etc. follow established guidelines
To ensure distribution is executed within legal requirements
Ensure optimal cooperation between the distribution department and service and production department for optimal customer service
Ensure that the department’s environmental and safety requirements of both employee and employer under the company set guidelines and compliance of applicable laws
Ensure that company health and safety policies are upheld within the department
To ensure that all routes are fully staffed and loaded
Manage the time and attendance/ wages system for distribution
Identify training requirements and ensuring all compliance training is up to date
Identify any recruitments needs and liaise with the HR Department
Managing any investigation or disciplinary issues alongside the HR department
Effectively manage the yard and dispatch area, and delegate tasks to the dispatch supervisor
Ensuring effective stock control
Skills and Experience:
Previous experience as a logistics manager or deputy logistics manager
Experience of managing a team
Good written, verbal and organisational skills.
Ability to listen to and influence peer group and department team members to build and lead effective working teams.
Good attention to detail and the ability to analyse data and interpret the information effectively to continuously improve the department and/or team.
Ability to organise self and others to ensure tasks are carried out in a timely manner.
