About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Graduate Sheet Metal Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to work on innovative projects and develop a strong foundation in sheet metal product design, manufacturing processes, and CAD technologies.
You will assist in designing and developing sheet metal components and assemblies for a variety of applications, working closely with experienced engineers, production teams, and clients to ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, and meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of sheet metal parts and assemblies using Solidworks.
- Produce 3D models for fabrication.
- Completing full manufacturing drawings (BOM, cutting lists, folding drawings)
- Work closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
- Interpret technical specifications & customer sketches.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to design, quality, and production efficiency.
- Maintain accurate design documentation and ensure compliance with internal procedures and industry standards.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and mechanical design.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
- Basic knowledge of sheet metal materials, fabrication methods, and design for manufacturing (DFM).
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in a practical engineering environment.
Desirable:
- Internship or academic project experience related to sheet metal or mechanical design.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments or production processes.
- Solidworks sheet metal experience
- Weldment experience
- Use of Solidworks PDM / DriveWorks
