Role Title: Composite Technician
Reporting Line Manager: The Composite Technician will report to the Manufacturing Manager.
Departmental Overview:
The Manufacturing Department within Artemis Technologies is responsible for ensuring the on-time and on-cost of parts supplied to build the eFoiler® and its systems. Working with the Design Team and Mechanical Engineers to develop efficient and practical processes for building Hydro Foils.
Role Overview:
The Composite Technician will be enquired to build high quality Composite components for the Artemis eFoiler®. Working within a small team of both experienced and inexperienced employees, the Composite Technician will also be required to share their skill and experience of how to build Prepreg Composite parts to a high standard, with apprentices and other members of the team.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Handling of Carbon, E-Glass, and foam core materials.
- Cutting and laying of Prepreg materials on to mound.
- Trimming, assembling and fitting composite parts.
- Other production tasks as required on occasion that align with the individual’s training and experience.
- Comply with ATL’s policies and procedures.
- Vacuum bagging and cooking of parts.
- Preparing and assembling mould/tooling as required.
Knowledge And Specialist Skills:
Education:
- Must be a final year apprentice on track to complete their apprenticeship by September 2025.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ shop floor experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in both Prepreg and wet laminating.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in complex mechanical and/or composite assembly fit out.
- Working knowledge of LEAN and 5S methodology.
- Computer literate.
Key Skills Required:
Technical Skills:
- Full understanding of the Standard Operating Procedures for the role.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping to 5S standard within the factory but specifically in the individual’s own work area.
- Exercise absolute integrity in respect of confidential matters.
- To comply with Health and safety policies at all times whilst in the workplace.
- Ability to read Drawings/Manuals of a high standard.
Preferred Technical Skills:
- Experience in composites manufacturing and assembly acquired within the Marine industry.
- Experience of working with design and manufacturing engineers in the early stages of a project.
- Experience of working in a low volume high complexity manufacturing environment.
Communication Skills:
- Demonstrable ability of capturing complex requirements.
- Good report writing skills – clear, concise, and well structured.
- Articulate written, visual, and verbal communicator.
- Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Teamworking Skills:
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and resolve.
- An appreciation of, and an ability to, positively resolve issues arising from different cultures.
- Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.
- Genuine ability to act as a team player.
Organising and Time Management Skills:
- Excellent time keeping skills.
- Ability to coordinate with other departments and flag issues.
- Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
- Dedication to completing tasks in high quality and timely manner with an ability to predict complex project timelines.
- Able to work at pace and meet tight deadlines.
