Job summary

Service Area:
The Climate Change and Sustainable Development Lead Officer will support the leadership, management, co-ordination and development of the Councils response to the challenges of climate change mitigation and adaptation to achieve net zero targets, including associated research, collaboration, development, and performance management.
Key Purpose of the Post:
To support the Director of Environment and Place and the councils Corporate Leadership Team in ensuring the delivery of the Councils vision and strategic objectives with focus on matters relating to climate action.
To lead the Councils progress and transition to net-zero emissions; champion sustainability initiatives and innovative development in the Council; driving awareness within the Council and the District; providing oversight and challenge where necessary and supporting the delivery of underpinning change programmes.
To monitor the implementation and continuous review of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Strategy and associated Action Plan, and to ensure appropriate measures are implemented to ensure efficient and effective performance management.
To support the Corporate Leadership Team by influencing service delivery improvement activities and the management and delivery of transformational change and integrated working across the organisation.
