Job Summary

We are seeking a Client Onboarding Officer to join our Belfast-based team. This role is integral to the smooth onboarding of new clients and matters across the firm. You’ll work closely with colleagues across departments and jurisdictions to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements, while maintaining a high standard of service and attention to detail. The role is fast-paced, varied, and intellectually engaging — ideal for someone who enjoys balancing complex research with practical execution.

Key Responsibilities

Conflicts Clearance

Support fee-earners and offices globally with all aspects of conflict of interest checks.

Review and process conflict requests using the firm’s internal systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of submitted data.

Identify potential conflicts and escalate where necessary, liaising directly with stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.

Maintain clear and auditable records of all conflict clearance activity.

Client Due Diligence (CDD)

Conduct research using a combination of internal tools and public sources to meet regulatory CDD obligations.

Advise on CDD requirements across multiple jurisdictions, tailoring guidance to local regulatory expectations.

Perform risk assessments at client inception and during updates, identifying high-risk clients through screening and analysis.

Investigate adverse media, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and source of wealth/funds, preparing clear and concise reports for senior review.

Collate all research and approvals in a structured and comprehensible manner for internal use.

Ad Hoc Support

Respond to onboarding, billing, and file-opening queries from fee-earners, PAs, and business services teams.

Assist the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) with research for suspicious activity reports.

Key Skills & Experience

Experience in conflicts checking and/or anti-money laundering (AML) processes.

Familiarity with professional services or legal environments is advantageous.

Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate findings clearly.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.

Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

Self-motivated and collaborative, with a willingness to take on both complex and routine tasks as needed.

Experience using Intapp or similar onboarding and compliance platforms.
