Job Purpose
To actively participate in the daily duties and responsibilities noted below as directed by supervisor / manager.
Team participation is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
The basic preparation of food and beverages including the preparation of vegetables and snacks using appropriate equipment.
Basic cooking duties.
Organisation and control of food service points which may include Till Operation and Cash Handling
The transferring and serving of meals and snacks including transported meals.
Assisting with the promotion of meals to pupils
Maintain regular contact with the central kitchen, if applicable, with regard to all aspects of service delivery.
The preparation of the dining area:
· The setting out of dining room tables, chairs, benches and serving points as required by the meals service.
· The setting of tables, laying out of cutlery, water jugs, etc.
General kitchen and dining room duties including washing up, clearing away equipment including tables, chairs and benches. The cleaning of the kitchen/servery, dining room and equipment including floors and walls.
Recording of temperatures for control purposes as required.
Securing of premises as required.
Duties as delegated in connection with service provision.

All duties will be carried out in the working conditions in line with the role.
All necessary administration must be completed as required.
Duties will be carried out for jobs up to and including those in the same grade, provided such duties are within the competence of the employee.
Staff are required to be flexible and move to other locations as required to meet the needs of the service.
Training
Employees will accept any training to facilitate the undertaking of duties for jobs up to and including their own grade.
Employees will accept training for jobs graded at higher levels than their own. Payment will only be made where there is a requirement by the authority for the higher-level duties to be carried out.
NOTE:
Where part of the school premises are used for the dual purpose of consumption of food and educational purposes, non-catering staff are responsible for the cleaning of the room.
