Due to continued growth our Construction client in Co Tyrone currently require a Buyer to join their Procurement team.
Role: Buyer
Location: Dungannon/Cookstown area
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
TheBuyer will play a key role in supporting the Senior Buyer and Purchasing Manager in all procurement activities. This includes sourcing and purchasing materials, managing supplier relationships, and contributing to the development of efficient systems and processes. The role is hands-on and requires initiative, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of materials across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure materials for planned projects.
- Ensure continuous supply of materials to meet project timelines.
- Liaise with store personnel and internal teams to fulfil purchasing requirements.
- Monitor and manage pricing agreements with key suppliers.
- Stock & Inventory Control
- Support stores in maintaining appropriate stock levels.
- Assist in developing inventory processes aligned with operational needs.
- Ensure pricing accuracy across all purchase orders, especially during month-end.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in pricing or delivery.
- Produce procurement reports as required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and escalate issues when necessary.
- Assist in sourcing new suppliers and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a buying role.
- Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Ability to produce accurate reports and manage data effectively.
- Ability to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
