Business Central Specialist – £40k-£50k + Benefits
Location: Downpatrick (Hybrid – 1 day WFH)
Hours: 37.5 per week, flexible, Friday early finish
About the Role
We are partnering with a highly successful manufacturing organisation in County Down who are seeking an experienced Business Central Specialist to take ownership of their Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central platform.
This is a key role within the IT & Business Systems function, supporting manufacturing, finance, procurement, AP automation, and wider operational workflows.
You’ll be the go-to person for Business Central configuration, process optimisation, troubleshooting, and system improvements – with a strong focus on reducing unnecessary customisation and maximising standard BC capability.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead functional configuration, optimisation, and support of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Enhance processes across finance, procurement, inventory, production, and quality.
- Streamline Accounts Payable automation using Continia Document Capture or similar solutions.
- Review existing bespoke BC customisations and identify opportunities to revert to standard functionality.
- Maintain integrations between BC and third-party systems (WMS, quality systems, scanning tools).
- Configure food manufacturing features such as batch/lot tracking, traceability, shelf-life and expiry controls.
- Build and customise workflows, reports, and dashboards.
- Deliver user training and support change management.
- Troubleshoot user/system issues and support BC updates and maintenance.
- Support AP/AR/GL and cost accounting within the ERP environment.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- 3+ years’ experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central (or NAV).
- Strong experience in manufacturing environments – ideally food production.
- Knowledge of production orders, inventory, quality, traceability, BRC/HACCP-style processes.
- Hands-on experience with Continia Document Capture or similar AP automation tools.
- Strong understanding of finance processes (AP, purchase ledger, reconciliation).
- Experience configuring BC (workflows, reports, setups, modules).
- Ability to analyse/assess bespoke BC developments and recommend standardisation.
- Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, Power Platform.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Desirable:
- Experience with EDI, WMS, barcode/scanning tools, shop-floor data capture.
- Basic SQL / API knowledge.
- Previous ERP implementation or upgrade exposure.
- Microsoft BC certification (Functional Consultant or Developer).
