Your Duties:

• Carry out laboratory work relevant to the qualifications and experience of a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist within the Microbiology Department.
• Independently perform diagnostic procedures with minimal supervision.
• Supervise and support trainees and laboratory support staff.
• Contribute to research, development of new techniques, and service improvements.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and laboratory policies.
• Demonstrate ongoing professional development and training progress, including CPD and annual performance reviews.
• Participate in a 24-hour rota service including weekends and public holidays.

Your Profile:

Essential:

Candidates must meet one of the following pathways:

Option A:

• Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist.
• Hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Microbiology (or equivalent).
• Have at least 1 year of post-HCPC registration experience in Microbiology.

OR

Option B:

• Have been employed as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) for 3 years, working in Microbiology.
• Must maintain current HCPC registration.

Applicants must also demonstrate:

• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure.
• Good IT proficiency including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Sound understanding of health and safety, data protection, and the diagnostic role of pathology labs.

Your Benefits:

• £19.10 per hour.
• Pension contribution.

Additional Information:

• Full time, Temporary.
• 37 hours per week.
• Based in Belfast.
