This is a high-impact, commercially focused in-house tax role reporting directly to the Group Head of Tax. It offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified tax professional to take ownership of tax compliance and reporting across a predominantly UK-based group, which also includes operations in Ireland. The role combines technical rigour with strategic input and cross-functional collaboration, making it ideal for someone seeking to broaden their experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely provision of statutory financial statement tax provisions and disclosures, including lead liaison with external auditors to support tax-related audit.
- Responsible for UK and Irish corporation tax compliance and OECD reporting obligations, ensuring submissions and payments are compliant with all relevant legislation and deadlines.
- Coordinate the Group’s R&D Expenditure Credit (RDEC) claims, working closely with external advisors, Finance, and Operational/Commercial teams.
- Support the HR and Payroll Departments in relation to employment tax queries and operational matters.
- Ensure supply chain compliance with legal obligations including IR35 and CCO.
- Lead UK and Irish indirect tax compliance ensuring submissions are compliant with all relevant legislation and deadlines.
- Monitoring transactional VAT compliance and effect change where required.
- Take the lead to ensure timely submission of government and tax returns, ensuring full adherence to Revenue deadlines.
- Communicating with HMRC in relation to compliance matters.
- Provision of advice and delivery of training to internal stakeholders on relevant tax matters such as VAT, CIS and PAYE.
- Maintain and improve tax-related processes, controls, and documentation to support compliance and audit readiness.
- Support the implementation and optimisation of tax technology and automation tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capabilities.
- Monitor legislative changes and conduct technical research to keep up to date with the latest changes in legislation to ensure tax compliance.
- Management and development of the internal tax team.
- Support the Group Head of Tax with various project work, including cross-functional initiatives, strategic planning, and ad hoc technical matters.
Requirements
Essential
ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CTA Qualified
Strong technical proficiency in UK corporation tax
An interest in developing UK and Irish direct tax knowledge
Tax experience ideally gained in a Big 4 professional practice firm or from a large corporate environment
Desirable
Construction experience
In-house tax experience
Familiarity with transfer pricing, capital allowances and Pillar 2 reporting
Experience with RDEC
Competencies Required
Excellent numerical and technical analysis skills
Good knowledge of systems and IT
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Drive and determination
Ability to prioritise and work on tight deadlines to ensure that compliance requirements are met accurately and on time
