This company are a dynamic, client-focused Construction Project Management firm based in Belfast, serving clients across Northern Ireland and the UK and Ireland. They specialise in delivering high-quality, complex projects across commercial, residential, and infrastructure sectors. They are currently seeking an ambitious mid level Project Manager to join their growing team. This is a critical role for an individual with approximately 5 years of professional experience in a similar consultancy setting ready to step up and lead a portfolio of projects autonomously.
The successful candidate will be expected to take full ownership and independent control of approximately 3-5 concurrent construction projects from initial concept and design through to final handover. This position requires strong technical expertise, exceptional client-facing skills, and proven leadership capability.
Responsibilities
1. Project Delivery & Leadership (Independent)
- Lead, manage, and execute multiple concurrent construction projects (c.3-5) independently, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, main contractors, and specialist consultants.
- Develop, maintain, and track detailed project plans, schedules, and delivery milestones.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities proactively throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Financial & Contract Management
- Oversee project budgets, manage cost control procedures, and ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Manage contract administration (e.g., JCT or NEC), including change management, variations, and final account negotiations.
- Ensure all necessary governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements specific to Northern Ireland construction are adhered to.
3. Team & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate and motivate project teams, chairing all necessary project meetings (kick-off, progress, and close-out).
- Foster a proactive and collaborative working environment, ensuring clear communication between all parties.
- Produce accurate and insightful progress reports for senior management and clients on a regular basis.
Experience & Skills
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a Project Management Consultancy role within the construction industry.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage and deliver multiple projects concurrently without daily supervision.
- Deep understanding of the full construction project lifecycle, procurement routes, and contract forms (JCT/NEC).
- Exceptional organizational skills, including proficiency in project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong financial acumen and a proven track record of effective cost and budget management.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills suitable for high-level client engagement.
- Familiarity with the Belfast and Northern Ireland construction market is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
- Degree (Level 8 or higher) in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related discipline is essential.
- Professional membership (or progression towards) with a relevant institution (e.g., RICS, CIOB, APM) is preferred.
- Full UK driving license.
