Job Summary

RSPB Northern Ireland is looking for a part-time Administrator to join the Peatland team to provide administrative support across a programme of funded and future projects.

Would you be interested in a job where you are a key member of a dynamic, busy team progressing RSPB’s nature recovery ambition on peatlands in Northern Ireland? The peatland team in Northern Ireland are working by a variety of means and through various funded projects to halt and reverse the degradation of peatland habitats and to allow nature to thrive, you will be an important part of this conservation effort.

This position could largely be home-based or alternatively make use of one of RSPBs offices in Northern Ireland. Some occasional but regular travel within Northern Ireland will be required for meetings and other work functions which bring our teams together for collaboration. This is a role with a flexible working pattern.

About the role

In this varied role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our team by managing financial processes, coordinating vehicles, travel and accommodation, organising events, booking diaries, facilitating meetings, and handling general office administration – all to ensure our staff and volunteers can work efficiently.
You’ll be highly organised and able to prioritise your workload effectively to deliver timely solutions. A strong team player, you’ll have a keen eye for detail and a flexible approach to your work. As this role can be fast-paced and reactive, being efficient, adaptable, and well-prepared are key skills.

What we need from you.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to proactively identify and solve problems.
  • Experience providing administrative support.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (especially Outlook, Word & Excel).
  • Knowledge of document management systems and team collaboration tools.
  • Ability to organise meetings and events and coordinate all aspects of the meeting or event logistics.
  • Knowledge of budget management terminology and processes.
  • Able to make the best use of time particularly when under pressure from competing priorities and skilled at prioritising and delegating tasks effectively, during periods of both low and high demand.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of financial processing.
  • Interest in conservation and the natural world.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, whether by phone, email or in person.
  • Experience of working with volunteers.
  • Able to identify and act on opportunities for continually improving ways of working.
  • Ability to take meeting notes and minutes clearly and concisely.
  • Experience of managing and reporting financial information.
  • Familiarity with project management approaches.

This is a Part-Time role for 18.75 hours per week on a Fixed Term Contract until The 31st of March 2029.
