Associate Lecturer in Barbering (Downpatrick & Lisburn)
Salary: £16,300 per annum (pro rata from £32,600)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 18 hours per week (approx. 12 hours Student Contact Time + associated duties)
Start Date: As soon as possible
We are seeking two passionate and experienced Lecturers in Barbering to join a Further Education College in Belfast and surrounding areas. These are permanent part-time roles offering the opportunity to shape the next generation of barbers through high-quality teaching and industry engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging teaching on Barbering programmes up to Level 5.
- Liaise with industry to ensure course relevance and innovation.
- Fulfil class tutor duties including pastoral and administrative support.
- Develop digital learning resources and contribute to quality assurance.
- Support marketing, recruitment, and educational visits.
- Mentor students for competitions and promote salon development.
Essential Criteria
- GCSE English (A–C) or Essential Skills Level 2 Communication, and GCSE Maths (A–C) or Essential Skills Level 2 Numeracy.
- Level 5 qualification in Hair and Beauty Management (QCF/NQF) + 3 years relevant industry experience.
- Level 3 qualification in Barbering.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Barbering industry.
- Recognised Teaching Qualification such as PGCE or equivalent.
- Recognised Assessor Award or willingness to obtain within one year of appointment.
All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
