Job Description – Senior SET Engineer

Position Overview / Description

The role of the Senior SET (Software Engineer in Test) Engineer is to design, implement, and maintain solutions that drive cost reduction, improve quality, and enhance testing productivity for our payment applications. Embracing our Automation First approach, the solutions developed will encompass unit, component, system, integration, and performance testing to name but a few.

Within a collaborative team, the Senior SET Engineer assumes responsibility for delivering software of the highest quality, thoroughly tested, and at an optimal velocity. They are deeply committed to delivering a quality product and are prepared to guide and mentor other team members. The successful candidate will actively drive continuous improvement of our testing infrastructure, resulting in shorter release cycles and heightened quality standards.

Position Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining automated test solutions while leveraging and innovating with the latest testing and environment toolsets

• Developing test solutions to support all aspects of Test Engineering including but not limited to static/dynamic analysis, unit, component, acceptance, integration and non-functional testing capabilities for our products and services

• Identifying tooling and process improvements while working with SET Architecture and Engineering Teams to define standards and set best practice

• Analyzing and solutioning test automation requirements and test cases, monitoring/analyzing test results, collecting test metrics and conducting test reporting

• Delivering high quality, easily maintainable code

• Influencing the opinions for ‘building in’ testability during all phases of the SDLC with emphasis on the design and development phases through continued collaboration with Feature Team members

• Participate in team workshops to generate ideas and high-quality technical test solutions – picking the right solution whilst balancing idealism and pragmatism

• Adhering to and apply overarching internal practices and policies with respect to coding standards, unit testing, lean development, and status reports

• Assisting with training and mentoring of others

Required Skills

• BSc or MSc or equivalent in Computer Science (or related field) OR equivalent work experience

• Experience of developing and supporting a robust and scalable Test Framework and Infrastructure

• Demonstrable experience with Design Patterns, Refactoring, OO Design and related areas

• Passion for Software Testing and developing high quality solid test solutions

• Clear understanding of software engineering concepts and Test Methodologies (functional & non-functional)

• Proven ability to get to the bottom of application issues using technical skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills required with an ability to take ownership of and responsibility for assigned work

• Experience in supporting more junior team members
