Supplier Approval Technologist

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates with a degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline to begin their career in the food manufacturing industry. As a Supplier Approval Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of all raw materials, ingredients and packaging used in our products. Youll be part of a supportive technical team, gaining hands-on experience with supplier management, food safety systems, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Role:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end supplier approval process for ingredients, raw materials,
and packaging
- Lead and manage supplier of services approvals
- Completing food safety risk assessments and vulnerability assessments for all raw materials,
ingredients and packaging.
- Completion of internal raw material, ingredient and packaging specifications.
- Review and validate supplier documentation, including specifications, HACCP plans, third-
party audits (e.g., BRC, ISO, GFSI), allergen control procedures, and certificates of analysis.
- Maintain and update the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and ensure traceability and compliance
documentation is current and audit ready.
- Liaise with procurement and supply chain teams to onboard new suppliers in a timely and compliant manner.
- Support site audits and customer visits by providing supplier-related documentation and technical information.
- Investigate supplier non-conformances and coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Monitor industry trends, food safety risks, and regulatory changes impacting any sourcing onsite.
- Collaborate with NPD and technical teams during supplier selection for new product development.
- Understand customer codes of practice for supplier approval & managing compliance of
these standards.
- Completing customer questionnaires.
Criteria:
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, VACCP/TACCP
